Sunday morning Yoga Livestream

Sunday mornings @ 9.30 am CET

starting this week Sunday, November 8th, Studio Stark is offering a Livestream Yoga lesson of 75 minutes via Zoom.
9.30 – 10.45.

Here in The Netherlands we have entered in to our second Lockdown, and in many other countries the same is or has already happened.

Now our yoga practice is more important than ever. To stay healthy. To hold your own space in your own home. To just have a moment to land, breathe and connect with that inner stability you do inhabit.

The practice will be recorded for everyone joining – you will receive a link the same day to download the lesson to your own computer so that you can practice again any time you want.

If you cannot join the lesson but would like the recording that is possible too, just let me know!

Warm welcome to join!
Drop me an email on studiostark@icloud.com or send a What’s App message on +31 6 46157019 if you would like to join.

Quite a few of you have cards for the regular Sunday morning lesson/s and you can use those to join this class, including the recording.

For those of you who don’t have a card for the regular Sunday morning lesson/s, you will receive a PayPal link to pay through donation for the class, including the recording.
To keep it fair for those who have a card and are paying per class through their lesson card the recommended donation will be EUR 15 – 18:- per class, including recording.

Looking forward to connecting with you Sunday/s!

Love, hugs and sparkles,
Cecilia

Yoga Workshop Outdoors, Backbends , Sat 8/8

Close to 3 weeks ago we had the first of  three in The Outdoors Yoga Workshops Summer 2020 Series.

It was a gorgeous, gorgeous day and the energy was amazing. I am so grateful for the energy shared, the moments, the practice, and this magic space we have in Cruquius for these workshops and the weekly Sunday morning lessons.

Do check the photos from the workshop and some from the regular Sunday morning classes below to get a sense of the energy and atmosphere.

And guess what? –  Soon it is workshop time again!!

We have two more Outdoors Yoga Workshops on the agenda in August;

Aug 8th – backbends
Aug 22nd  – inversions (head and shoulderstand)

Warm, warm welcome to join one or both of them!

The first one up is the backbends workshop;
We will build up gently through meditation, pranayama & vayu’s (breathing & aligning) , moving in to a flowing practice preparing us for the backbends. We will spend some time really enjoying and learning all sorts and levels of backbends. And of course we will end the practice with a heavenly savasana (relaxation) under the trees with the sun warming our faces as we are held by the grass.

All levels are welcome. It makes no difference whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for weeks, months, years, decades or centuries. There is plenty of space for personal attention and guidance for every one and every level. Plus there is plenty of space in the literal meaning of the word as well to make sure we keep the safety standards recommended by the RIVM.

Maximum number of participants: 12

Investment/s:

1 workshop, EUR 35:-

Yoga Outdoors!

Since we are finally allowed to teach live face to face, of course with the 1,5 – 2 metres distance, outdoors there are two weekly outdoors classes at the gorgeous location of Solid Peformance in Cruquius.

We’re on a private terrain, with outdoor space in the grass, underneath the trees, in company of birdsong, horses and the occasional visit by the cats. There is space for 12 people with sufficient space between us, at least 2 metres. There’s also private parking space for both cars and bikes.

I just love teaching in this space and feel so, so blessed to be able to do just that and welcome you dear yogis.

The classes are on Thursday and Sunday mornings. All levels of yogis are welcome, it does not matter if this is your first or 1001st class.

Please, do sign up for every class as we have a limited amount of space. There is also a waiting list for the classes that fill up fast.

Information for the classes follow here:

Thursdays 08.30 – 10.00

Sundays 9.30 – 11.00

Solid Performance, Spieringweg 700, Cruquius

Practicalities:

  • Arrival 5 minutes before the lessons starts, not earlier.
  • We are on a private terrain with enough car and bike parking, take care to keep your 1,5 metres distance when you are walking to and from the parking.
  • The lesson is given in the field behind the “kapschuur”.
  • Only join if you are feeling healthy. If you have any symptoms of sneezing, runny nose, cough, fever etc stay home. I will of course cancel the class if I display any of these symptoms.
  • As we are outdoors make sure to wear enough clothing to not feel cold during meditation and relaxation.
  • Bring a bottle of something to drink, water or tea or whatever you’d like for yourself. If the sun is out you could get really thirsty.
  • Bring your own yoga mat, meditation pillow, blanket or blankets, yoga belt and any other props you would like. See information further down below here in case you need to purchase any of the products.
  • Make sure to keep the 1,5 metre distance when you leave.
  • As soon as the lesson is over, we leave. I can warmly recommend the takeaway coffee and food at both Theehuis Cruquius and the Pannekoekenpavillion in the neighbourhood should you wish to go catch up.
  • We have a limited amount of spaces, 12 people, so do make sure to let me know via What’s App on 06-46157019 that you would like to participate. Email works too – Cecilia@studiostark.net

Below are the prices for the lessons.

Keep in mind that in case you have been hit financially really bad by this corona crisis and would like to join but you cannot afford to, contact me and we will work something out. I am in that category myself, together with so many more, and we always work things out for each other, so no stress, just ask!

2 proeflessen / trial classes                           EUR 22:-

Single class                                                       EUR 18 :-

5 lesson card, valid 2 months                       EUR 85:-

10 lesson card, valid 4 months                   EUR 140:-

Yoga props

Even though we can hopefully start teaching in the yoga studios and gyms from July 1st   in very small groups, there will be very strict rules on hygiene, which I have to say is all good, meaning you will need to bring not just your own mat but also your own props.

As you can both see and listen to in this clip by scientist Gregg Braden from March 19thhttps://youtu.be/zwiS37SYE6k – this virus, and of course many more, can survive for quite some time on textile, in hair and on metal surfaces. Most yoga props are made of textile.

Owning your own props and mat is no more different that owning your own racket, balls, shoes etc when you play tennis for instance.

As we started the lessons just a few weeks before the corona crisis in Cruquius, we have all new props, which we are now selling at a price where we just get back what we invested. In case you would like to purchase any of these, let me know and I will have it ready for you just before class and send you an invoice after class:

Yoga belt / yoga riem                         EUR 5:50

Meditation pillow / zitkussen         EUR 17:50

Bolster                                                 EUR 27:50

These are all organic cotton.

If you do not have your own yoga mat and need to buy one, I warmly recommend https://www.iloveyoga.nl/en/yoga-lifestyle-wellness/yoga-mats/

Looking forward sooooooo much to seeing you again in class! No matter if it’s Zoom or live!

PS. If it rains we have a space in the “kapschuur” with the doors open which is basically outdoors with three walls and a roof.

Livestream yoga Fri 1/5 – Sun 10/5

Dear online LiveStream Yogis,

thank you so much for your support since we started in the first week of this so called “intelligent lockdown” here in The Netherlands, 47 days ago. I love being able to connect and see you all online until we can all meet again live for real.

It has been 47 crazy days for all of us, for some of us more days than that and for some of us less, depending on where on this globe we are living. I just love seeing you from all the continents of this beautiful earth of ours in the livestream classes, thank you!

During these 47 days there’s been a lot of hard work, learning many new things, adjusting your thinking by the day and sometimes even  by the minute. I am sure many of us are experiencing brain fog due to all of this. Including myself. What continues to amaze me is that one session of Yoga Nidra clears a whole week of brain fog. I do this practice myself every Saturday and I it’s like cleaning my glasses when it comes to perception being so much clearer afterwards.

It is time for me to take some days “off’. Some days for my own practice, own recovery, own study. Only when I take time for my own practice and my own studies can I be there for you dear students. You see, the teacher also always remains a student.

So, from tomorrow Friday May 1st until Sunday May 10th this yogi is going to be doing just that.  Retreat, recover, practice, study.

And Monday May 11th I am back 100 % to continue all our online LiveStream lessons, including som new online LiveStream projects.

I love you guys, I am so grateful for our practice together, I will see you Monday the 11th again!

Love, light, hugs and sparkles,
Cecilia

New! Sunday morning yoga lessons in Cruquius

Dearest yogis and yogis in spe ;-),

I am beyond stoked to announce that I will be teaching a weekly yoga lesson starting Sunday Feb 16th at the gorgeous location of Solid Perfomance’s in Cruquius.

These lessons are “my own”, meaning they will taught in the traditions I am trained in, Classical and Vijnana Yoga – which is from the times before yoga got split up in to a lot of different names, derived from the classical yoga system as taught by Sri Krishamacharya and passed down by him to B.K.S. Iyengar and Patthabi Jois , both of whom my teacher Orit Sen Gupta was a  student of as well as a student and co teacher of and with Mr. Iyengars senior student Donna Holleman.

Anyone of you whom have ever taken a class or a workshop by me will recognize what is taught and how. The classes are 1,5 hours , which is now sometimes considered “old school”, and means that there is sufficient time for every aspect of the yoga practice – breathing, meditation, postures, flow, relaxation – to be integrated in to your body and mind.

There will be workshops and in depth master classes coming up throughout the year at this location as well.

We are kicking this off with a Sunday morning class for all levels of yogis, 9.00 – 10.30, and are building a solid base for more lessons with different levels from here.

Warm welcome to join on Sunday’s! Really looking forward to seeing you in Cruquius!

Muffins!

Banana, Date and Walnut Muffins, yum!

I made these muffins yesterday for breakfast and filled up the freezer for the week to come. Yet, these are also great next to your coffee, as an office snack, before or after training, anytime actually.

I have chosen to go all plantbased, but that does not mean you have to. If you go for the not plant based version just remove the plantbased milk and chia-eggs from the ingredient list below and use 3 eggs.

My choice to go entirely plant based is health, animal welfare and environmentally related, all in equal portions. If you would like more information on any of this, don’t hesitate to drop me a message through email!

Anyway, let’s bake some muffins!

Ingredients:

2 cups of almond flour

2 tsp baking soda

Pinch of sea salt

1 tbspn cinnamon

1 cup of dates, pitted and chopped

3 ripe bananas

3 chia-eggs ( 3 tbspns chiaseed +7,5 tbspns water )

1 dl plant based milk of your choice. I used soymilk yesterday. Tomorrow might be almond, or oat,or…

2 tbspns coconut oil, melted

2 dl walnuts, chopped

How to?

Start with making your chia-eggs in a small bowl. Leave the chiaseed and water to expand in to a gooey mix.

Heat the oven to 180 C.

Line a muffins baking tray with cupcake liners or baking parchment.

Combine the almond flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a large bowl.

Add your dates, bananas, coconut oil, chia-eggs and plant based milk to your mixer or food processor and mix till smoothish.

Combine the dry and wet ingredients. Add the walnuts and stir them in.

Spoon it all in to the baking tray liners.

Bake in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes.

Enjoy with your favourite coffee or tea, sprinkle some fresh berries, coconut flakes, cacaonibs or some dark chocolate on top if you’d like.

Breakfast or snack smoothie – Banana Almond

Smoothies are some or the easiest and fastest things to make for breakfast and / or snacks. Totally some of my favourites as you can either choose to sit down and enjoy your smoothie while just breathing and just being, as well as when you have one of those mornings or days when you just can’t get to take a longer breakfast or break you can have your smoothie while working.

Just throw the following in the blender and mix!

1 frozen banana
1,5 cups vegan 🌱 milk 🥛
1 tbspn almond butter
1 tbspn chia seeds
2 dates
1 tspn wheatgrass powder (optional)
1 tspn rosehip powder (optional)
A few ice cubes

Enjoy!

Vegan oven pancakes

“Just trust the process”. “Be open to everything”.

Yes, this morning was one of those mornings that those two expressions made me look wider than what was in front of me and to my eyes in that moment wasn’t working.

I was about to make these totally yummy almond butter bars for breakfast. I had about 30 minutes and a busy day ahead.

Getting the recipe out, starting with adding the chia seeds to the water for the “chia eggs”, then switching on the oven while I was sipping my freshly made matcha oat milk latte I could hardly wait to taste these yummy bars after meditation.

You see, that was the plan – let the almond butter bars bake in the oven as I was in my morning meditation.

The third ingredient on the list was apple puree. And when I make these bars I always make my own homemade, sugarfree apple puree the night before. Not last night I didn’t.

Crap! What am I going to do now? The whole morning starts to fall apart in front of my inner eyes.

Then I remember everything I have and still am learning from the likes of Dr. Joe Dispenza, Gregg Braden, all the ancient texts I have studied up until now. Things like ” see the possiblities” popped up in my mind and I started to look around at what ingredients I could use to quickly make something I could still let bake in the oven during meditation.

I had bananas. I had the “chia-egg”. I had more fruit. I had seeds, dried berries, oats.Spices. And more.

So I made this oven baked banana pancake, and do you know what – it was yummy! And superduperhealthy on top of that. So yummy that I want to have it more often. Which meant I had to write down the recipe for myself. And save it here.

I hope you will like it too!

Preparation time is around 5 minutes, cooking time 25 minutes – but those 25 minutes you can do other stuff. Or just sit ;-).

Ingredients:

Some good old H2O, about 1/2 cup or 1 dl

2 tbspns chiaseed

2 bananas

1 tspn cinnamon

1/2 tspn curcuma/ turmeric powder

1/2 tspn nutmeg

1 tspn baking powder

2 dl oats

2 tspns chiaseed

2 tspns coconutflakes

2 tspns gojiberries

2 tspns sesameseeds

2 tspns hempseeds

2 tspns pumpkinseeds

2 tspns sunflowerseeds

2 tspns dark mulberries

2 tspns light mulberries

Start with making the chia-egg by stirring the 2 table spoons of chia seeds in to the 1dl or 1/2 cup of water. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, or until it has become a sort of gel.

Heat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade.

Mush the bananas with a fork in a small bowl. Add the baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and turmeric powder and mix well with the fork.

Stir all the dry ingredients (yes, there is more chia seeds in that part too) together in a bowl. Make sure they are mixed well.

Add the chia-egg to the bananamix and stir it in well.

Add all of it together. Smear it out pretty thin on baking paper in an oven baking tray or pan.

Let it bake in the middle of the oven for about 23 minutes.

Serve with fruit and/or berries.

Enjoy!

Let me know what you think!

Anatomy of Peace – Yoga Workshop

Peace, stillness, quiet, rest, suppleness, ease, “rust”….

Sometimes it feels pretty far away, yet it is something you carry within you all the time. You hold the switch and can actually decide when to switch it on – and off.

Once you understand the anatomy of peace, it will be a lot easier to both practice and achieve it.

We will look at the anatomy of peace from the perspective of the physical body, from the perspective of the mental body (aka the brain and nervous system), from the perspective of hormones and hormone production, from the perspective of yoga philosophy and quantum physics. All in a language and movements (and rest J), that anyone and everyone can understand – the point being that you can take the knowledge and practices home to easily be put to use in your life from the moment you leave the studio.

Warm welcome for this first workshop of this kind.
